GERMİOO is on the rise due to its potential antimicrobial activity as well as its stimulatory and signaling properties towards plant defense systems. As a compound, it can be used as a biocide in sustainable agriculture and applied to awaken plant defense systems through activation and synthesis of reactive oxygen species (ROS). The chemical can be applied during the seed, seedling, vegetative, flowering and fruiting stages. It can bind to the cell surface to produce ROS and initiate signaling cascades to activate systemic acquired resistance (SAR). When applied to leaves before pathogen entry, GERMİOO shows a photoprotective effect at very low doses by triggering enzymatic systems in the host. Due to the small amount applied, this chemical can be considered environmentally friendly in agricultural fields. Many chemicals available in the market have been used either to trigger tolerance mechanisms before or during abiotic stress occurrences or to trigger defensemechanisms against biotic stressors. Since GERMİOO activates the plant defense system very quickly and effectively, we think that it could be one of the promising chemicals with priming effects for crop plants exposed to both abiotic and biotic stressors due to its properties to trigger both abiotic and biotic stress factors.
